Who Is Ryan Pinto?

Ryan Pinto is one of India's most prominent young education leaders and the Chief Executive Officer of the Ryan International Group of Institutions, one of the largest and most respected private school networks in the country. Born on 8 July 1985 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, he is the son of Dr. Augustine Francis Pinto, the Founder and Chairman of the Ryan Group and former Sheriff of Mumbai, and of Madam Dr. Grace Pinto, the Group's Managing Director. Under his CEO leadership, the Ryan Group encompasses 135+ schools across 18 states and the Middle East, educating 250,000+ students annually through 16,000+ educators.

Early Life & Education

Ryan Pinto grew up in Mumbai attending St. Xavier's Group of Schools, run by his own parents, and later Hebron School. Growing up inside his family's school network gave him a lived understanding of education as both mission and service. He pursued undergraduate education at Aston University, Birmingham, UK, before completing an MBA in Management and Strategy at Cass Business School (now Bayes Business School), City University of London, in 2010. His international education equipped him with global management perspectives that he has directly applied to leading the Ryan Group.

Family

The Pinto family is one of India's most extraordinary education families. His father, Dr. Augustine Francis Pinto, founded the first Ryan school in Malad, Mumbai in 1976 and served as the Sheriff of Mumbai. His mother, Madam Dr. Grace Pinto (Managing Director), received the ET Inspiring Women Leader Award 2024, presented by Sushmita Sen. His two elder sisters, Dr. Snehal Pinto and Sonal Pinto, are both Directors of the Ryan Group. The name "Ryan" is an anagram of Mary, reflecting the family's deep Catholic faith and devotion.

Career as CEO, Growth and Modernisation

Ryan Pinto joined the Ryan International Group after completing his MBA in London in 2010, taking direct responsibility for international operations and expansion. As CEO, he has overseen the launch of 21 new schools since 2020, driven digital transformation and AI integration across the group, developed the INMUN (Indian Model United Nations) programme, and established the International Children's Theatre Festival of Performing Arts as annual flagship student initiatives. Under his leadership, Ryan International School Vasant Kunj received the World's Best School for Environmental Action award from T4 Education.

AI, Technology & Global Recognition

Ryan Pinto delivered a keynote address on 'Fuelling the Education Economy with AI: The India Story' at the ET Annual Education Summit 2025, where he was also recognised as Bronze Trailblazing Leader in K-12 Education. He received the K-12 Edupreneur Award of the Year 2024, Global Leaders Award at the India-UAE Partnership Summit 2024, and was recognised as Asia's Emerging Business Leader by WCRC and Ernst & Young at the Global Excellence Summit in London in 2013-14.

The Bollywood Connection

An intriguing detail: Ryan Pinto appeared in the 2011 Bollywood comedy film Masti Express, starring Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Manoj Joshi, and Divya Datta. The film opens with the introduction of Ryan International School, and Ryan Pinto plays the role of a student, making him one of the very few corporate education leaders in India with a Bollywood film credit.
